Russia’s Acclaimed Classical Ballet Company Returns to the Empire Theatre

The Russian State Ballet and Orchestra of Serbia will grace the Empire Theatre stage once again. From February 4th to 6th2013, the acclaimed classical ballet company returns to Liverpool bringing with them not one,  but three classical ballet performances over a three-day stop over.

Formed in 1981, The Russian State Ballet of Serbia quickly established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies by bringing outstanding quality and unusual to depth to all performances.

Theatregoers will be dazzled by beautiful portrayals of Le Fille Mal Gardee, Coppelia, and the sensational Swan Lake. Three classics over three days is a treat for the senses, and ballet fans will not be disappointment. After a sensational UK tour in 2011 the Empire Theatre welcomes back the troupe, looking forward to a trio of fantastic portrayals.

Kicking off the three days of dance is La Fille Mal Gardee, one of the oldest ballets still regularly performed. Recreated by Alexander Gorsky, it’s a gentle tale of love thwarted, unrequited and found, a masterpiece of comedy.  Next will be Coppelia. Set in a doll maker’s workshop, this story is a comedy of errors and a witty combination of antics and abracadabra. Perfect for the first time ballet goer. Closing out the ballet spectacular is Swan Lake. The greatest romantic ballet of all time is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s incredible score on the Empire stage.

Whether you are a veteran ballet enthusiast or new to the art, The Russian State Ballet and Orchestra will present Liverpool with something for everyone to enjoy. With three classics scheduled for the first week of February, excited audiences will certainly scoop up tickets, ready to be delighted by breathtaking physical ability and dazzling costumes.
