Liverpool’s best bar men tell us about their latest and greatest cocktails…
Name: Stephen Aspinall
Bar/Restaurant: Palm Sugar Lounge Liverpool.
How long have you been there? Three and a half years.
What have you chosen for Private Life’s cocktail club?
Cocktail name:
Cosmopolitan – it’s renowned as a ladies drink but it is so versatile and more and more men are drinking them and venturing into cocktails.
Cocktail Recipe:
35ml Ketel One Citroen vodka, 15ml Cointreau, 4 x Lime wedges (Squeezed), 25ml Ocean Spray Cranberry juice.
How to make:
Add all ingredients to a Boston glass-cocktail shaker, add lots of ice, shake hard and double strain into a chilled martini style glass. Garnish with a flamed orange zest.
Stephen, are you a shaken or stirred type?
Stirred, unless I’ve had one too many gin and tonics.

If you could be any liquor on the shelf what would it be and why?

Tanqueray gin.

Could drink it morning, noon and night! It’s great to mix with or simply with a good tonic water and fresh lime. Perfect.

What is the highest number of vodka sodas you’ve served in a night?

It’s impossible to count! Way too many people waste so much money on boring and bland drinks. Besides, cocktails are good for the soul.
